I have always made a big deal out of my son’s birthdays. I love planning surprises, special adventures and family & friend gatherings to celebrate another year of his life. Being a single mum and Jordan being my only child I like to spoil him on his special day every year.
A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo grueling treatments including chemo and radiation. I spent weeks in bed unable to get up or do anything.
Jordan’s birthday was fast approaching and I didn’t want to miss out on celebrating. I knew he didn’t expect anything lavish, given my condition, but I was determined to give him an experience he’s never had and to thank him for all he did whilst I underwent my treatments.
I started looking at experiences that would allow him to have an awesome day and one that I could enjoy with him. And that’s when I came across iFly.
I was excited and booked it. I didn’t tell him what we were doing and just drove him to iFly at Penrith to present him with his gift.
He was a little unsure at first, but once he went through a briefing with the other participants, he was excited. I had paid for him to go into the high air tunnel to make the most of his skydiving experience.
His session wasn’t fully booked out, so there was extra time for a couple of the participants to have an extra go and Jordan put his hand up and got an extra flight. It looked like so much fun!
Although I didn’t get to fly as I still felt fragile after my treatments, I thoroughly enjoyed watching my son go through the experience. Several instructors also did some demo flights, which were incredible to watch.
Indoor sky diving is not just for the thrill seekers, it’s also great fun and accessible to try with friends or family members.

Is iFly worth the money?
Seeing the look on my son’s face as he finished his flights, I would say yes, iFly is definitely worth the money. I have always believed in collecting moments rather than things and this experience is a special memory we will always remember.
Here’s what other participants have said:
Great family fun ! From 4 years to over 50 , everyone had a great time.
The experience completely surpassed our expectations, it was truly incredible. Something I will definitely be doing again and again in the future;

The whole family enjoyed ourselves and created heaps of laughter watching one another.

What does iFlying feel like?
When you go sky diving from an airplane, you fall towards earth with a sudden jerk before opening your chute. But when you go iFLYing you are flying gently on a cushion of controlled air through all flight phases – not just at take off or landing…
Do you jump in iFly indoor skydiving?
No you do not jump in indoor skydiving. If you are a beginner you walk to the doorway of the wind tunnel where you are met by your instructor who then helps and guides you into the float position until you are comfortable and flying on your own. This can take several goes and the instructor is right there with you.
If you have paid for the high flight, the instructor will do this with you by holding your and foot from the side and then flies up into the high tunnel with you.
iFly Parking
There is a large carpark outside of iFly Indoor skydiving venue.
